July 18 will see the opening of an exhibition of the artist Oscar Rabin in the Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow.
Oscar Rabin is a most important figure of the Russian art of the 20th century. He was one of the organizers and members of Lianozovsky Group, which united non-conformist artists and writers in the mid 1960s.
He was the one to initiate the Bulldozer Exhibition (1974), which was crushed by the authorities, but become the main symbol of “alternative art” and the dissident culture as a whole in the Soviet Union (for Rabin himself it resulted in deprivation of his Soviet nationality and expatriation).
This year marks the 85th anniversary since the artist’s birth. MAMM is celebrating this date with an exhibition of his early graphic art commented by the author himself.
The exhibition will run till September 8.
