RUR 4.4 BLN Siphoned By Corrupt Defense Officials

Corruption-related crimes in the defense ministry lost the Russian budget RUR4.4 billion, or $150 million, in the first quarter of 2013, says the Military Prosecutor General's Office.

      505 criminal cases were launched, with some RUR1.3 billion returned to the state coffers.

      Last year, corruption-related crimes cost the national economy RUR7.5 billion in losses.
