Traces of Ancient Greek Civilization Found in Taman

Ruins of an Ancient Greek settlement have been unearthed near Primorsky Settlement on the Taman Peninsula.

According to scientists’ estimates, a large Ancient Greek city was constructed there in the 6th century B.C. Allegedly, its area reached 30 hectares, and it was destroyed in the 1st century B.C.

Excavation works are being carried out in six spots. Archeologists have dug out residential buildings, lots of which are similar to estates of the Greeks. Most of the constructions are tiled. It was expensive material, so the find testifies that owners of the estates were prosperous people.

Archeologists assume that the discovered site could be the town of Kepa, but they have not yet found enough evidence on that.
