Admiral Nevelsky Monument Unveiled in Sakhalin

A monument to Admiral Gennady Nevelsky - one of the most outstanding Russian seafarers and explorers of the Far East – has been set up in the city of Korsakov on the Sakhalin Island.

The memorial has been established in the framework of the charitable program in memory of Admiral Nevelsky, which is implemented by the Sakhalin authorities together with the main command of the Navy of the Russian Federation.

The monument, which is 4.5 meters high together with its pedestal, has been created by the Petersburg sculptor Albert Charkin. It has been unveiled in the very centre of Korsakov - in the Komsomolskaya Square.
