The Irkutsk Region will be granted monetary funds for liquidation of solid domestic waste landfills.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russian Federation will allocate funds for liquidation of unauthorized SDW landfills down the Baikal shoreline. Now all corresponding documentation is being prepared. The contractor will be assigned on a competitive basis. The garbage which has accumulated on Olkhon Island since 1970-s is going to be removed to a special landfill. Reclaiming of an unauthorized SDW landfill in “Volchya Pad” locality of Olkhonsky District was finished last January. It is estimated that liquidation works on Olkhon Island and in Slyudyansky District may need about 30 million rubles.
