Dutch Architect Designed a Building for Hermitage

Rem Koolhaas has designed a new project for 3-d building of Hermitage restoration and storage complex.


      

Hermitage Director, Mikhail Piotrovsky announced that right now they are having talks over construction of the 3-d building of Hermitage restoration and storage complex “Staraya derevnya”. It is projected by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, the winner of Pritzker prize and curator of the next architectural biennale in Venice. 1st rank buildings of “Staraya Derevnya” were done in 2003 and now they work on “open storage” principle. There are storage, exhibition, education, restoration, engineering and administrative buildings. 2nd rank building will be complete after adding exhibition and lecture halls by 2014.
