Baby Manuls In the Zoo

Baby Manuls In the Zoo

11 manuls were born in Moscow Zoo at once. 3 female manuls gave birth to 11 kittens.

7 of them were born on Presnya and 3 others in zoological nursery near Volokolamsk. One of the mums was transferred together with her cub to an open exposition in new area of the zoo. When the enclosure is watched with no excessive noise, is quite possible that she will show up with her new born baby alongside. Capital’s zoo is the most successive in manul breeding. Since 1975 to 2004 there were born 132 cubs. Baby manuls have a very weak immunity and are prone to numerous diseases, though.  Besides, usually they have illnesses in a severe form, so that it is important for zoologists not just to ensure favorable conditions necessary for manul breeding, but also to preserve the broods in captivity.
