The World Press Photo exhibition is coming to St. Petersburg for the third time this summer to present to public the best pictures of the last year.
The exhibition supported by the Loft Project FLOORS will take place from August 24 to September 15.
This year 5247 photographers from 124 countries applied for the exhibition; they presented to jury 101 254 pictures altogether. Following the tradition of the contest, after the awards ceremony the best photos were arranged into an exposition that went on an international tour. Millions of people in a number of countries annually visit the exhibition.
The Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda has become the winner of World Press Photo of the Year. He took a picture of Fatima al Braids with her 18-year-old son Zayed, a victim of tear gas in a street demonstration in Yemen.
