A monument to the Baltic seal, which entertained and attracted attention of vacationers last year, has been unveiled in Zelenogradsk.
Such cases are not rare: seals often happen to be thrown out to the seacoast, but none of them managed to live with people for so long. Locals named the unique seal Rurik.
Rurik grew up, got stronger and in late autumn departured to the sea. In memory of this guest the city authorities decided to set up a sculpture opposite to the beach spot that he had chosen to stay at.
The monument has been created by the Kaliningrad sculptor Valery Kovalyov.
