A businessman and an archeologist are suspects on the case of destruction of over 40 burials, which are archeological monuments of the 11th century.

42 archeology monuments of 11th century burial mounds - Yaskelevo-1 and Yaskelevo-2 at Yaskelevo Village of the Gatchina District of the Leningrad Region were destroyed in the course of earthworks two years ago.

Militiamen ascertained that the businessman had colluded the archeologist and forged archeological excavations to disguise carrying out earthwork with use of heavy construction equipment.

According to evaluation by experts, the damage caused amounts to 56 million rubles.

Criminal cases under the article “destruction or damage of history and culture monuments” have been opened against the entrepreneur and archeologist.
