The monument to sunken battleships in Novorossiysk will be restored.

“In the memory of Black Sea Fleet battleships sunken on June 18, 1918” memorial ensemble located 12 km away from Novorossiysk may fall into the abyss. Monument is hanging over the sagging and cracking rocky cliff. The last thorough restoration works on the monument were performed in 1995. Then it turned out that big amount of water accumulated in the hollow inside of the monument therefore drainage had to be done by hacking a hole in the base. Since then 18 years have passed. Aggressive marine environment does its job undermining even granite rock. In this regard the decision to carry out restoration works was taken. Currently, the cost of upcoming works at the base of the memorial is being estimated. It is planned to fully cement the rock under observation deck and a monument to the Black Sea sailors with durable solution of cement and glue.
