Finnish farmstead to be restored in Karelia.
Restoration works continue in the estate complex in the Karelian village of Niemelänhovi. Master and landowner Oscar Nissinen built the manor in the late XIX century. Master's wooden mansion, workshops, outhouses and a house for laborers are located on the territory of farmstead. On one side there were mill, sawmill, power plant, tower silo, water tower, and bath and laundry room. After restoration the management of nearby hotel complex and one souvenir shop will be quartered in manor house.
Former cowshed will be rebuilt into restaurant and bowling alley. Exhibition dedicated to the history of estate will open in the grain elevator building with well-maintained old wooden equipment. The recreation of farmstead’s historic appearance is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2015.
