Moscow Was Found Cleaner Than Norilsk

The capital of Russia took second place in air pollution.


Rating of pollution in Russian cities was created based on Rosstat data. The monitoring of pollutants emitted in the air was carried out. According to the results of research Norilsk was found to be the most polluted city. It leads the ranking as its emissions have predominantly industrial origin. Moscow took the second place while the air in the capital is twice cleaner than in Norilsk. 92,8% of Moscow emissions come from automobiles. St. Petersburg closes the top three. Top ten of country’s most polluted cities is hit mainly by metallurgical, oil refining or chemical megapolises like Cherepovets, Asbest, Lipetsk, Novokuznetsk, Omsk, Angarsk and Magnitogorsk. The cleanest city is Tambov situated on 100th place.
