Horror Monument in Sestroretsk is not Going to be Removed

The monument Two Sisters set up in Sestroretsk (Leningrad Region) by passing the opinion of the Town Planning and Architecture Committee of St. Petersburg is not going to be removed yet.

The monument has caused sneers of citizens, and the former chief architect of St. Petersburg Yury Mityurev has admitted that the sculpture frightens him.

The Architecture Committee has claimed the monument to be tasteless and pointed to its numerous flaws and recommended to remake it completely. At the same time the experts have approved the chosen place for installation of some other sculpture.

Set up in September last year, the monument depicts figures of two girls carrying a basket. The girls are over three meters tall. The names of the monument’s authors have been written with large letters on the pedestal.
