The New Monument: Not Enough National Colors For Grandma

The monument to grandmother may be set up in Izhevsk not later than next September.

A monument to grandma will go up in Izhevsk. Results of open competition for the best design will be announced in August. Competition Committee has selected the winner, but do not announce him yet as the author has to finalize his project. As per competition requirements the monument should reflect the national culture of Udmurtia. If the author agrees, the monument will be set up on Gogol Boulevard in September 2013. In case there are issues with winning project, the monument will be based on second and third place designs. This would not be the first monuments to grandmother in Russia. There are already similar sculptures in Kemerovo, Ust-Ilimsk and Belgorod.
