Now Moscow Zoo has obtained more possibilities – it has become a state autonomous institution (PAI). The new status gives more opportunities in terms of meeting the cultural, educational and enlightenment needs of population.

In addition, a special charity foundation will be founded this year at Moscow Zoo. It will accumulate funds received from sponsors and allocate them on zoo development projects and implementation of different events and programs contributing to visitor’s engagement and improvement of housing conditions for animals that live in zoo. The social program "Adopt an animal" is already being implemented. According to it, any legal or natural personality can take care of an animal by sponsoring its housing costs. Besides that, there are programs of modernization and construction of new enclosures.
