Malevich Monument to Appear in Moscow Vicinity

Competition for the best project of a monument to the avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich will be held this year.

The monument will be set up in the area of the Romashkovo housing estate in the Odintsovo District of the Moscow Region. The artist’s grave was once located there.

The builder has allocated a place, where the capsule of soil keeping the artist’s ashes will be moved and a monument will be set up.

On Monday some mass media reported that an elite housing estate has been constructed right on the grave of the Black Square’s author, who according to his will was buried in a field by his favourite oak tree, near the place where he had lived. In the days of Patriotic War (1941-1945) the grave was ruined, the oak was broken and the exact location of the grave was lost.
