A post office in central Russia was evacuated on Friday after one of the packages started “making strange noises,” prompting fears of a bomb that turned out to be a vibrator, the local police said.
Police did not send in a bomb squad but instead tracked down the shipper, a local woman who confessed to the box’s intimate contents, a spokesman for the Kirov Region police department.
The woman was going on a trip and wanted to have the dildo with her but did not want to have it in her luggage, so she tried to mail it to herself, the post office's spokesman said. He added that the toy will be sent to its addressee.
Russia’s post offices seem to have bad luck with sex toys: In 2011, a similar story played out in the northern Republic of Karelia, also prompting the evacuation of a post office over a vibrator that went off at an inopportune time.
