The Russian company "Anti-plagiarism" has inspected approximately 14.5 thousand doctoral and candidate dissertations on history. Of these, about 1.5 thousand works are plagiarized.
70 percent or more of the texts are composed of fragments taken from other people's works. Result of check was sent to the authorities. According to Alexander Visly, head of the Russian State Library, that initiated the inspection, the scope of the problem is quite serious. It’s necessary to start total inspection of all works. Borrowing parts of the text from the works of other authors cannot be attributed to the citation, since 70% of plagiarism is far beyond all permissible scope of borrowing.
