Wagner’s 200th Jubilee to be Celebrated in Moscow

The Svetlanov State Academic Symphonic Orchestra will celebrate the 200th anniversary since the birth of the composer Richard Wagner.

A concert made of his compositions will take place today in Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow.

The orchestra has prepared a concert version of Tristan & Isolde for Wagner's anniversary, the orchestra art director Vladimir Jurowski points out. The cycle Five Songs to Matilda Wesendonck’s Lyrics for a mezzo-soprano and a chamber orchestra will also be performed.

This cycle, according to Jurowski, became a kind of a sketch for Tristan & Isolde. The singers Anja Kampe, Elisabeth Kulman, Stefan Vinke, Albert Dohmen and Yevgeny Liberman will take part in the concert.
