The People’s Artist of Russia Sergey Goryaev, aged 55, has passed away in Moscow.
The well-known and outstanding artist was the chairman of the Moscow Branch of the Artists’ Union of Russia.
Sergey Goryaev was born into the family of the famous graphic artist Vitaly Goryaev. He graduated from the Moscow Higher Arts and Crafts College.
The artist participated in a number of large architectural projects in Russia; in particular, he created sets of monumental artworks for the building of the Consulate-General of Russia in Canada, the Central Palace of Railroad Workers in Moscow, and the Moscow International Music Centre. In 2005 - 2013 he actively participated in and headed creation of a large-scale design complex for the Federal Military Memorial Cemetery in the Moscow Region.
Along with monumental works, Sergey Goryaev was into easel painting, working in still life and landscape genres.
In the last years of his life Professor Sergey Goryaev taught in the Moscow Stroganov Arts and Crafts Academy.
