Russia has lifted the 5 percent import duty on cellphones and tablets in line with the WTO rules but the retail prices are unlikely to drop, says Vedomosti.

The Federal Customs Service has confirmed that the change has taken effect since September 1, 2013.

Experts warn that this move will hardly help to bring prices for popular gadgets down due to a weaker rouble.
