Hong Kong authorities arrested a Russian woman who tried to open a plane emergency exit in mid-air Thursday, the Russian Consulate General said.
The woman, who arrived in Hong Kong on Thursday on a Cathay Pacific flight from Moscow, was detained shortly after her plane landed safely at a local airport. According to RIA Novosti news portal, the 28-years-old woman was admittedly drunk. She is now expected to appear in court on the same day on charges of violating flight safety rules.
If the woman is fortunate, her actions could possibly lead to a rapid depressurization with a danger of a massive loss of life.
A Consulate General employee didn't elaborate on possible reasons behind the woman’s bizarre behavior, but said this was not the first time a Russian had been arrested in Hong Kong for similar violations.
The similar incident took place several months ago with a mentally disturbed man from the USA, who almost managed to open the jet door and was later arrested in the Portland's airport.
