Govt Hopes To Cut Road Deaths With $1BLN Program

In a bid to improve road safety, the government has earmarked a total of RUR 32 billion for a period up to 2020.

      The Interior Minister set out a goal to bring down the number of casualties by 28 percent till 2020.

      He said the focus will be on prevention like better driver training and school education.

      According to the prime minister, a similar program in place before 2012 helped to cut the deaths by 20 percent.
