Pugachev`s Oak Was Officially Recognized as a Monument

The solemn ceremony of delivery of the certificate verifying that the oak is a natural monument took place on the territory of Mariy Chodra National Park.

      The Certification Commission of the All-Russian program “Trees are natural monuments” gave the monument status to the Pugachev`s Oak located in Mariy Chodra National Park in April 2013. In July the oak was examined by the experts of a non-profit partnership of the strategic alliance “Healthy Forest” (Moscow) who assessed the state of the tree, made the necessary measurements.

      The ceremony of delivery of the certificate verifying that the oak is a natural monument was held on one of these days. The experts have determined the exact age of the oak: it makes up 413 years.
