New Monument in Rostov

A sculpture of a deer - a noble symbol of the city - was opened in Rostov the Great in honor of its quatercentenary.

According to the heraldic tradition, this animal symbolizes greatness, diligence, wisdom and fortitude. The landmark was chosen by popular vote.

The main competitor of the deer was Alyosha Popovich who all the same lost by far.

The monument was manufactured in St. Petersburg, and the look of the sculpture was not disclosed until the last moment. It was established at the federal highway M-8, not far from the railway station. The presentation of the object to the residents and visitors of Rostov was included into the festive program of the City Day.
