Chelyabinsk Meteorite Is Sold Piece by Piece

Mass media reported that a resident of the UK auctioned the pieces of the Chelyabinsk meteorite. The starting price of its fragment weighing 27.1 grams is $ 900. The celestial body was auctioned by the UK’s citizen owning the largest collection of “space souvenirs” Rob Elliot.

According to the resident of Britain, he had to transgress the Russian law in order to get the meteorite. “The Russian authorities told local residents that they will arrest anyone who tries to sell the meteorite fragments abroad, so my contact person had to send it by airmail parcel, mixing the pieces of the meteorite with the details of electrical devices” - the collector confessed to one of the British editions.
