Edward Snowden has been put on the short list of the 2013 Andrey Sakharov Award by the European Parliament, says Vedomosti.

The former CIA contractor became the media magnet after he blew the whistle on NSA’s surveillance program and ended up in Russia with a temporary permit.

Originally, he was planning to move to Latin America but decided to stay in Russia.
