The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is opening an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary since the birth of Benjamin Britten (1913-1976).
Benjamin Britten was one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. His operas and other music pieces have become an integral part of repertoire of the largest theaters of the world. In 1937 the composer got acquainted with the singer Peter Pears, for whom he composed tenor parties unrivalled in musical heritage of the last century. Moreover, it was not only magnificent music that this union contributed to the world.
Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears jointly made a collection of about 1500 works of art, including paintings, drawings, engravings, lithographs, sculptures, as well as stage costumes and setting design.
The exhibition will run from October 16 till December 1.
