The Shchusev Architecture Museum has opened an exhibition dedicated to the Kazan Railway Station.
The Kazan Station was one of the major objects in A.V. Shchusev’s creativity. The architect was engaged in this project for the longest period in his creative career. The Kazan Station building has embodied the main tendencies of the master’s pre-revolutionary period of architectural activity, connected with the quest for national expressiveness and based on particular samples of Old Russian architecture.
A lecture at the exhibition will highlight the process of shaping of the building outlook, its interiors and decorations of the facades, which have determined the image of the Kalanchevsky (nowadays Komsomolsky) Square and Ryazansky Drive.
The exhibition runs till November 18.
