The Lumière Brothers Center is opening the exhibition Gijsbert Hanekroot. From Abba to Zappa. Rock Photography of the 1970s.
Taking photos of rock musicians is unmistakably rewarding. These charismatic and striking personalities ignite plenty of energy and dynamics at their gigs.
Gijsbert Hanekroot was very actively into photographing in those gold years when John Lennon was still alive and David Bowie was young.
Contributing for Dutch editions, he managed to shoot portraits and concert photos of nearly all the main music characters of the era. At the same time Gijsbert Hanekroot did not limit his photography to rock stars only. His photo reports from gigs by The Rolling Stones and Bob Marley ranked with Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Patricia Smith, Blondie and even Abba.
More than one hundred pictures by the Dutch photographer will be brought to Moscow. About twenty of them are from the 1970s.
The exhibition will be held from October 23 to December 8.
