Traditional Lermontov’s Days cultural program will take place in Petersburg from October 14 to October 19.
It is annually prepared by the M.Yu. Lermontov Library to mark the poet’s birthday.
Exhibitions, excursions, film screenings and the major event – Lermontov’s Readings with participation of philologists and journalists – will commemorate the great Russian poet.
The program opens with The Great Mute. M. Yu.Lermontov's Works from the State Film Fund Collection. Unique silent movies – all the remaining pre-revolutionary screen versions of Lermontov’s works (Boyar Orsha (1909), Vadim (1910), Bela (1913), and Fugitive (1914 and 1919)) - will be demonstrated in N.A.Nekrasov library today. The film expert Peter Bagrov will tell the story of creation of these movies.
October 14 and 19 will see excursions around Old Petersburg. Specially for Lermontov’s Days volunteer guides have developed the program With Lermontov along Liteiny. The groups start from the M.Yu.Lermontov Central Library.
The 8th Lermontov’s Readings with assistance of literary critics from Russia and abroad on October 16 and 17 will be the central event of the project. This year it dwells on the subject of Music and Cinema.
