In Altay State Memorial Museum of Herman Titov it is possible to purchase real space food. The museum is located in the homeland of the cosmonaut in the village Polkovnikovo, Kosikhinsky District, Altai Region, where he spent his childhood and youth. The products are made by Biryulevo experimental factory specializing in the production of food for cosmonauts.
Space food for astronauts has come a long way since the flavorless paste that came in tubes. From now on, museum guests are allowed not just look at, but also buy space foods.
For example, pastries, bread, freeze-dried foods (borscht, pea cream soup, Greek hors d'oeuvre, different salads), 3 types of tube food (cherry apple juice, apple cranberry dressing and honey) and also canned meat (beef tongue, caviar, gravy meat, pork picante etc.).
The sale will start from October 21. Now, before preparing each cosmonaut’s individual ration all foods are being tasted first. The Space Store has a great selection of real and novelty space foods as well as coffee mugs, space candy and more. In this day and age, astronauts can eat just about anything in space that we eat right here on Earth. Some things have to be repackaged but some do not.
