The arbitration court of St. Petersburg has postponed preliminary hearings of Vladimir Alenikov’s copyright claim to the social network VKontakte till December 3.
Mr. Alenikov, the film director of the series Adventures of Petrov and Vasechkin demands termination of copyright violation and compensation of 1.5 million rubles.
The Triumph movie was originally created by the film director Vladimir Alenikov and screenwriter Denis Rodimin in 2000. However, due to a conflict between the director and the producer Alexander Eliasberg, the film was edited by Oleg Pogodin and turned into an independent, harsher work. Despite Alenikov's objections, his name remained in credits of the drastically transformed movie. Film distributors refused to purchase the movie, however its soundtrack The Red One: Triumph featuring Maxim Fadeev and the Total band gained popularity.
Vladimir Alenikov pointed out that the claim had to do with the so-called Triumph movie only. He has rights to terminate illegal distribution of the film with poor artistic quality, which tramples his reputation down.
Not until 2013 did Vladimir Alenikov manage to solve the copyright issue and complete the film, which premiered under the title War of the Princess at the Moscow International Film Festival of 2013. The film topic is compare to the West Side Story, just shifted to the Russian realities of the 1990s - a love story of two teenagers from conflicting gangs - Russian and Caucasian ones.
