On October 25 the State Darwin Museum will host an exhibition never seen in Moscow before.
The State Darwin Museum is the only museum in Russia dedicated to the world’s evolution. It was founded by Doctor of biology, Professor, and museologist Alexander Kots.
For the first time in Russia the best mammoth finds will be displayed on one stage. Some of these exhibits are world known, but some have never been exhibited before. Brought together, they will tell museum visitors the history of discovery and researches of this amazing animal. Mammoth had long been familiar to northern peoples.
Found under melting snow, the animals were compared with giant mouse, with elk – “the patriarch” and even with long-living pike. But since no one has seen him alive, people considered that mammoth lives under the ground and dies coming out into the light.
Today, baby mammoth is the first exhibit in Darwin Museum, because such a find has never been shown in Moscow before. The skeleton of a mammoth, presented by museum-theater "OUR Ice Age” will allow visitors to compare the sizes of an adult and a baby mammoth.
According to the State Darwin Museum, the exhibition will be open until 19 January, 2014.
