      The Governor of Magadan Oblast Vladimir Pechyonyi discussed drug control methods with the heads of law enforcement agencies. The meeting recalled the recent attempt to carry a large amount of drugs to Magadan Oblast through the neighboring region - Yakutia - by an ethnic criminal group.

      An increase in the number of attempts to send drugs to the region via mail is also observed which will require additional measures of control over mailing items. Following the results of the meeting, the governor commissioned the authorities to examine the activity of the boarding station of oversize loads and mailing items in the region and to provide suggestions for their technical equipment with systems "Norka" and "Introscope" at the expense of the regional budget. As Vladimir Pechyonyi noted, counteraction against the distribution of drugs is to be systematic and permanent. "We should not be calmed down by the statistics, because we all understand that this is just the tip of the iceberg. The current state of statistics does not reflect the reality to the full extent. Drug addiction is an evil that has a devastating effect not only on health and fate of individuals, but also on society in general. So we have to fight it until its complete elimination"- the governor said.
