Construction of a new building of the Tretyakov Gallery may be started as early as 2014.

      A competition for developing the concept of the architectural design of the facades of the new building has been won by the SPEECH architectural studio.

      Before the end of this year documentation on the project will be submitted to the state expert review board.

      The new building of the Tretyakov Gallery is supposed to complete formation of the museum quarter. The building is going to house the repository, restoration workshops and new exhibition halls, the Radio Kultura reports.

      In addition to that, premises for carrying out various cultural and educational events have been included in the plan of the new Tretyakov Gallery building.
