The book Blood Point Sign. Alexander Bashlachev through the Eyes of Contemporaries cites Boris Grebenshchikov's precise words about him: “Bashlachev is never ever forgotten... Because nobody can cope with this crude stratum that he tackled, nobody even dares to get close to it. He is remembered, yes, by one percent. One can make one hundred records, go outside and distribute them to everybody. But people will not take – they will never be able to perceive such art. The last five thousand years show that one can do nothing about it. But if we do not try, it will become worse. Bashlachev's art is not elite, but this is the art for those who then create art themselves. He has no single song, which lots of people would know. It is impossible... But to have the fire burning, it needs to be kept up all the time, because once it goes out, one cannot coax it to burn anymore”.
In recent years Bashlachev's word has begun to sound again: Alexander Bashlachev Museum was open in Cherepovets in November, 2009, the Sasha’s Day rock festival was held twice (in 2010 and 2011) there, and February 2011 saw the premier of play production Bashlachev. Singing Man in the Bolshoi Puppet Theater. Fundraising for setting up Alexander Bashlachev monument is presently carried out.
The new documentary play about Alexander Bashlachev is being written by the playwright Yaroslav Pulinovich jointly with some Ural authors.
The playwright promises that in the unusual performance the musician will for the first time appear not as the performer, but as a full-fledged character of the play. Children will be the other play characters. The performance will have no habitual stage. In this way, it will be easier for viewers to plunge into the atmosphere of the 1980s, the stage directors believe.
The Ural playwrights have won 970 thousand rubles grant of the Mikhail Prokhorov charity foundation. This money will be used for staging two performances united by the same characters. The premiere is expected on December 20, 2013.
