Starting October 17, 2013 "Art. Power. Love. The Soviet art of the 20's and 30's" exhibition is open in "Victoria" gallery, Samara. 38 paintings from the collection of Russian Museum visually reflect the time and style of the artists of post-revolutionary period.
Visitors will be able to see the works of famous artists, such as P. Filonov, K. Malevich, Z. Serebryakova, A.Deyneka, A. Samokhvalov and other artists, less known to the general public. The exhibition tells about the time period when representatives of left-wing and emerging social realism equally fought for the right to fill "revolutionary art” with their own meanings. In the same exhibition area are presented the works of artists, who in 1930’s were divided by authorities into officially recognized and persecuted. The exhibition rights an historical wrong, demonstrating not only the antagonism, but also interpenetration of all art movements and trends at that time.
For some artists (Malevich, Filonov) this period was connected with innovations in colours and shapes, for the other (Samokhvalov, Deyneka) – with attempts to show new heroes of that time and daily life.
On the opening day there was a special presentation of a brochure, prepared and published for this exhibition, and also a lecture given by I.Samorukova.
