Reconstruction of Novosibirsk Regional Studies museum will be completed by the end of December.
Construction and restoration works at Novosibirsk Regional Studies Museum will be completed by December 30. In three years 160 million rubles was allocated for the reconstruction of institution. General construction and restoration works are carried out in the halls located in the basement. Down there finishing works in the galleries, the installation of low voltage and lighting systems are drawing to an end. Repairs of exhibition hall on the ground floor and installation of the lights are also coming to an end. Currently, large-scale restoration works are carried out in the main and exhibition halls on the second floor: ceiling of the main hall is being renovated, ventilation equipment is being installed, and low-voltage lighting systems are being mounted. At the same time, the works on landscaping are coming to an end. Finishing works of the large porch at Pervomaysky Park side are being carried out.
Novosibirsk Regional Studies Museum is one of the major museums of Siberia.Currently it's collection contains more than 170,000 artifacts. These illustrate 150,000 years of Siberian history, and describe the native culture and population.
The museum exposes an interesting collection of native Siberians' folk costumes, unique collection of cult objects (crosses, icons, clerical garments and church utensils, objects of the Buddhist culture) and a collection of Russian coins and paper money of the XV-XX centuries.
