Series about Legends of Soviet Cinema Made in the Crimea

Crimean expedition of the Russian film director Vitaly Moskalenko shooting the 16-serial movie Orlova and Aleksandrov about the star couple is coming to an end.

The film tells a romance story of the legendary Soviet actress Lyubov Orlova and the film director Grigory Aleksandrov.

One of the peculiarities of these series is that it is “a cinema film” with the characters of great directors of Soviet cinema: Eisenstein, Aleksandrov, and Pyryev.

Upon thorough casting and auditions Olesya Sudzilovskaya and Anatoly Bely were selected for the roles of the legendary Lyubov Orlova and Grigory Aleksandrov. A constellation of actors was gathered around them: Nikolay Dobrynin as Leonid Utesov, Evgeny Knyazev as Joseph Stalin, Andrey Smolyakov as Maxim Gorky, and Vitaly Hayev as Sergey Eisenstein.

Plenty of extreme conditions fell on the lot of the actor Anatoly Bely in the Crimea. In Sevastopol the crew was shooting scenes of making The Battleship Potemkin, when the crowd of extras refused to jump into cold water and so, Aleksandrov as Eisenstein's assistant had to lead by example.
