Art Spiegelman’s MAUS, the well-known graphic novel about the Holocaust has been published in the Russian language.
MAUS is the only graphic novel which has won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. It is a book about Vladek Spiegelman, a Jew who underwent horrors of concentration camps in Hitlerite Europe, and his son, who as an artist tries to comprehend the life story of his father and figure out their complicated relationship.
When back in 1987 some angry reporter in Germany asked the artist Art Spiegelman, whether he considered his comic book about the Holocaust to be “indecorous”, and he answered: “No, I consider Auschwitz to be indecorous”.
The book of 296 pages in hard cover has been published with the pressrun of 2000 copies by the Corpus publishing house.
