The mayor of Nizhny Novgorod intends to set up more sculptures in the city. A monument to Yury Gagarin may appear near Nagorny Sports Palace.
This was suggested by the head of Nizhny Novgorod administration Oleg Kondrashov.
“We need to set up a monument in front of the Sports Palace: there is enough space there. Besides, the clock that we always had there must be returned. In general we do not have enough monuments, whereas we have lots of people to be proud of. We should address the Moscow authorities: they used to have monument to Gorky in Museon. Let them give it to us: it is relevant to us, but not necessary to them” – the mayor points out.
For comparison, Yekaterinburg has about 1000 monuments, and St. Petersburg has as many as 8000 monuments.
