Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich proposed to extend up to three or four months the period of transferring the "mobile subscriber" from one operator to another. Dvorkovich did a suggestion at Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s meeting with his deputies. "On the first stage, in fact, during transitional period of testing the new service, it is proposed to give an opportunity to provide the service (number porting) in the course of three or four months," - said the government official. Earlier, the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications unanimously advised the Chamber to adopt at the first reading amendments to Art. 54 of the law "On Communications", encouraging mobile operators to implement the law on Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service – transferring from one operator to another, but keeping the previous phone number.
