"Auchan" resumed alcohol sales in Moscow suburban hypermarkets.
Hypermarket chain "Auchan" resumed alcohol sales in Moscow suburban stores, reports "Interfax" in reference to the statement of retailer’s representative Maria Kurnosova. It was reported earlier that the Ministry of Consumer Market and Services of the Moscow Oblast suspended the licenses to sale the alcohol by retail in 11 Auchan hypermarkets. Suspending was caused by mistakes made in declarations on alcohol turnover for 3rd and 4th quarters of 2012 and in 1st and 2nd quarters of 2013. The head of Russian division Jean-Pierre Germain said that the company had applied for new licenses. France-based Auchan retail group operates in Russia since 2002. In Russia, it owns a chain of 75 stores, including 53 Auchan, 18 Auchan City, 4 Nasha Raduga hypermarkets and 4 Auchan Sad stores.
The retailer Auchan plans to open 10-14 new hypermarkets in Russia next year, the general director of Auchan Russia, Jean-Pierre Germain, said during a press conference in Moscow on November,18. Agreements have already been signed concerning the building of 3 ‘classic’ Auchan hypermarkets, 3 Auchan City hypermarkets, and 4 Our Rainbow (Nasha Raduga) stores, Germain said.
