Footballers of Rubin Kazan, Kuban Krasnodar and Anji Makhachkala will try to extend their winning streak in the fifth-round matches of Europa League group stage.
All three Russian clubs will play matches on Thursday on their own stadiums. Rubin will meet Slovenian Maribor, Kuban – Swiss St. Gallen and Anji – Moldavian Sheriff. All three matches will begin at 21.00 MSK. Rubin's unbeaten streak in the Europa League, including qualifying matches, already numbers 10 matches, but teams from Krasnodar and Makhachkala have been scoring the points in tournament's last two matches in succession. Despite reaching the playoffs, Rubin will not take rest in the match against Maribor. After home victory over English Wigan (1:0) in the last round, Kazan secured the ticket to the Europa League playoffs ahead of schedule. Rubin with ten points undisputedly leads the group D, while its closest rivals Wigan and Belgian Zulte Waregem are 5 and 6 points behind, respectively. Maribor after four matches closes the quartet with three points.
