Russian Football Union's Control-Disciplinary Committee has fined Vladikavkaz-based Alania one million rubles for failure to appear at 25-round match with Luch-Energia within the Football National League (First Division) championship, the official website of RFU reports.
Alania informed FNL that due to financial difficulties it will miss the match against Vladivostok team, which was to take place on November 23. In accordance with the disciplinary regulation, CDC RFU gave Alania a technical defeat with 0:3 score and fined Vladikavkazians one million rubles "for unreasonable absence at the match of Russian championship". Alania footballers left for vacation on November 20 and will return back on January 12. The team has to play next match within FNL championship in early March against Rotor Volgograd.
FC Alania Vladikavkaz was founded in 1921, the club played in the Soviet Top League during the communist era, and won its first and only league title in the 1995 Russian Top League. In 2010, Alania replaced FC Moscow (who dropped out for financial reasons) in the Russian Premier League, but were relegated back after one season on the top level. They returned to the top level for the 2012–13 season after just one season below.
