Alexei Klimov, the Russian orphan adopted by Deckert spouses from the U.S. and who more than a year ago ran away from his American family, got in touch with the Consulate General of the Russian Federation, after having learned that the Russian side intervened in the situation, children's rights commissioner under the Russian President Pavel Astakhov said.
"Now our goal is to protect Alexey Klimov from possible prosecution by U.S. authorities, since the psychologist who worked with this family, is being persecuted. We succeeded to do something that the U.S. law-enforcers could not do: we found Alexey Klimov, staying here in Russia", ombudsman said. Alexei, Anastasia and Svetlana Klimov, natives of Krasnokamsk, were adopted in 2003 by Deckert family. Last March guardians became subjects to investigation into alleged child abuse. Whereabouts of Aleksey Klimov, who left his adoptive family, was unknown.
In November, Alexei Klimov should be 18 years of age.
