Russia has won the World Chess Team Championship held in Turkey’s Antalya, says Sovsport.ru.
According to the sports news agency, Russian beat Egypt in the last round to secure 15 points in the table, just ahead of China (14) and Ukraine (14).
Russia's men’s team managed by Yury Dokhoyan featured renowned players – Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grishchuk, Sergey Karyakin, Nikita Vityugov and Yan Nepomnyashchy, whose brilliant performance included seven wins, one draw and one defeat.
Organized since 1985, the World Chess Team Championship is a battle of the world’s top 10 teams.
It’s the fourth time that Russia has grabbed the title – it won gold in 1997, 2005 and 2010. Alexander Grishchuk has become the three-time champion.
