Monument to Cossack Matvei Platov Set Up in Moscow

The bronze cast monument to the Don Cossack Matvei Platov has been set up in the Lefortovo Park in Moscow.

The monument was initiated by Hero of the Russian Federation Pyotr Deynekin (1998 - 2003), the head of the RF president department concerning the Cossacks.

The author of the monument is the sculptor Konstantin Chernyavsky. The project was recognized the best at a competition that was held by the administrative board of the district. According to the author’s concept, Matvei Platov is depicted at the moment of grief: dismounted after fight with foreigners he is grieving over his brothers-in-arms.
